Help I can't do............................

Post  Admin on Sat Aug 23, 2008 8:08 pm

I thought I might start a thread to help people with their computer related questions.
Q. I want to show the world my fantastic photos - how do I do it?
A. Right here is my guide to uploading & using photos in a message on here or any forum.

  • You need to put them somewhere - I'd recommend www.photobucket.com Just sign up for an account - its all free.
Login into your photobucket account and click the 'My Albums' tab.
Click the upload pictures button and it asks you to browse to find the picture (say in 'My Pictures' or wherever
Click the picture you want and then ok. It uploads it
Repeat with as many photos as you want
You will see each picture as a thumbnail below
Under each photo is a box with a 'direct link' address. Click that box and a little message pops up 'Copied'

Open the forum page and start a message.

Click the add picture button, then click the from url option. A message pops up asking for the address. You need to put the address of your photo in. Photobox has done the hard work just hit Control V to paste the address it copied for you.

Q. I want to enter a digital slide but Paul says the pics have to be 800 X 600 pixels. Either I can do that or the picture distorts/ help!

A. Firstly why do we ask this? Many SLRs with produce huge images which will slow down the computer projecting them and the image quality isn't improved using these large files viewed on a screen. When we say 800 X 600 pixels what we mean is that this is a guide to the size. If the proportions of you picture are different you may end up with 800 X 560.

How to. In photoshop choose image, image size

You'll see the size of the pictue in pixels is huge.

1600 X 2300
Notice the constrain proportions box is ticked. This stops you image becoming distorted.

Change the longest side (most pixels) to 800

Voila. Its now an 800 X 565 pixel file. Close enough. Thats it - now save it as a different filename and choose jpeg and you are done.
